Report of Barnet Copthall Swim Club Novice Meet 04/10/2009
Twenty-Four competitors from Killerwhales attended this meet, the first meet for a number of our more junior swimmers, although many of these were not over awed by the occasion and posted some fantastic times. A total of 49 medals were won and shared by our swimmers.
Although not one of our first timers, Edward Brooks (12) took “Top Boy” on the day taking four golds and one silver totalling 48 points and pb’s in every event, with Jonathan Cox (10) joint second with a total of 34 points taking two golds, one silver and one bronze. Very well done Edward and Jonathan.
A special mention goes to Daniel Weston (9) on a superb performance with pb’s in all events, one silver and four bronze medals, but best of all four county qualifying times! Great swims Daniel, well done. Lisa Murphy (11) also gained her first county time by winning the Girls 50 free with a time of 34.14 to take gold.
Ross Walmsley (10) also turned in a great performance on the day, again with pb’s in all five events, taking gold in the 50 breast and also returning home with three bronze medals. Tobi Okeshola (11) also shone taking gold in the 50 breast and four other bronze medals.
Ellie Davis (12) took silver in 50 Breast and also a bronze in 50 Back. Thomas Weston (10) also took silver in the 50 back with four other bronze medals.

The team finished second on the day with a fantastic total of 269 points, well done to all our swimmers. We hope you really enjoyed yourselves, after all that’s what it all about.
Finally, we must mention the support on the day from our parents. We were singled out in Barnet’s own gala report for a special mention, “the support for their swimmers was fantastic with huge cheers for every finalist, clearly an excellent team spirit.” Well done to all the parents, it really makes a difference!
Here’s to the next gala...... COME ON YOU WHALES !!!!!      Report by Neil
